Board of Metro Gang Strike Force training at BCA
The advisory board of the Metro Gang Strike Force is meeting Tuesday to get a look at evidence handling procedures at the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
The strike force is currently suspended, partly due to allegations of poor evidence handling by some officers.
A temporary strike force is being set up to continue fighting gangs. It will operate out of the BCA and use the agency's evidence rooms and procedures. The advisory board plans to check out the BCA's space on Tuesday, as well as approve the names of officers who have been nominated to serve on the temporary force.
Last week, Public Safety Commissioner Michael Campion said he wanted the temporary unit to begin operating this Thursday.
