Arrest expected after death of 10-year-old S. St. Paul boy
Officials with the South St. Paul police department expect to make an arrest as early as today after a 10-year-old boy was found dead in his home Monday afternoon.
Officers responded to a call of an unconscious child around 5:30 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of First Avenue South, according to Police Chief Danny Vujovich.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
His 12-year-old sister was taken to Children's Hospital in St. Paul, where she remains in intensive care, Vujovich said. The boy's mother was taken to United Hospital for further treatment.

Vujovich would not elaborate on what type of injuries any of them suffered, but he did say they were not gunshot wounds.
Other than that, the police released very few details about the incident, including any of the family members' names, information about who found the boy or who called the police.
"It's just so early on and there's a few things going on with the investigation that we just can't release yet," he said.
Police have identified a suspect, but had not made any arrests as of Tuesday morning.
Police think the incident was "target specific" and residents of the metro suburb should not be concerned.
"It was not a random crime," Vujovich said. "The public is safe."
