$2 million sign plan aims to reduce confusion at MSP airport

A Metropolitan Airports Commission committee today approved a $2 million plan to improve signs directing travelers to the two terminals at the Twin Cities airport.

The commission estimates tens of thousands of travelers get lost every year trying to find the right terminal. The terminal buildings are located on different roadways, and motorists can't get from one to the other without returning to Highway 5.

Airport spokesman Patrick Hogan says new signs along the highway will list which airlines are at each terminal, unlike the current signage. And Hogan says the Humphrey and Lindbergh terminals will also be identified by number.

"A lot of people don't realize MSP has two terminals. And by putting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, we're reminding people there's more than one terminal," he said. "So, they need to be paying attention to the signage so they can find out which one they need to go to for their airline." Hogan says the full airport commission will likely approve the sign plan later this month.
