3 St. Paul Fire Department workers disciplined for noose incident

The three St. Paul Fire Department employees who were disciplined after a stuffed monkey was found in a noose last year have been identified.

Their names weren't made public until the appeals process was completed.

Department records say mechanic Michael Weathers was suspended without pay for three days. Municipal garage supervisor Glen Kadrlik and mechanic Michael Churchich received oral reprimands.

All three are white.

Nathaniel Khaliq is the president of the St. Paul National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He says the discipline was insufficient and shows the racially offensive incident wasn't taken seriously.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported on the records Wednesday. Its efforts to contact the three men were unsuccessful.
