Minnesota soldier killed in Iraq laid to rest

A Minnesota soldier killed in Iraq this month has been laid to rest in a solemn ceremony.

Spc. Daniel Drevnick was one of three Minnesota troops killed in an insurgent attack in Iraq on July 16.

More than 200 members of Minnesota's Patriot Guard gathered Saturday to pay their respects to the 22-year-old Drevnick.

Capt. Paul Rickert of the Minnesota National Guard says Drevnick was an excellent soldier who loved what he did.

One of the pallbearers was Drevnick's father, a former State Trooper. Drevnick had hoped to follow in his father's footsteps.

The other two soldiers killed were Spc. James Wertish of rural Olivia and Spc. Carlos Wilcox IV of Cottage Grove. Wertish's funeral will be Monday in Bird Island, and Wilcox will be buried Tuesday in Louisville, Ky.
