Attorney in Coleman donor suit disputes committee's findings

Attorneys in a lawsuit involving one of Republican Norm Coleman's campaign donors say a Texas oil drilling company's special litigation committee did not conduct a thorough investigation.

The company's former CEO, Paul McKim, alleged that Minneapolis investor and Coleman friend Nasser Kazeminy tried to funnel $75,000 to Coleman through a Minneapolis insurance company that employed Coleman's wife. The special litigation committee employed a law firm to conduct an eight month investigation and found no merit to McKim's claims.

But McKim's attorney Casey Wallace says not so fast.

"The SLC lawyers were advocates for the corporation, they were not investigators trying to figure out what happened," he said. "That's my opinion and that's why I believe it's a whitewash."

Norm Coleman was not a party to the case. A Texas judge is expected to rule on whether to dismiss the case by the end of the week.
