Wisconsin lawmaker cited for hitting cyclist

A Wisconsin lawmaker has been cited after he struck a bicyclist with his vehicle near the state Capitol.

Police say state Rep. Fred Clark ran a red light Tuesday and hit the cyclist, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Baraboo Democrat was cited by police and released.

Clark released a statement saying his primary concern was for the cyclist's well-being. He says what happened was an accident.

A spokesperson for Assembly Speaker Mike Sheridan says Clark told him the biker was one of Clark's close friends. The spokesperson says Clark was shaken up by the incident.
