State patrol identifies woman whose pickup rolled off of I-694

The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the woman who was critically injured after her pickup crashed Saturday afternoon at the intersection of I-694 and I-35W.

According to the State Patrol:

Tessa Mettel, 32, a Forest Lake Resident, was traveling east in a 2009 Ford pickup truck on I-694 when she made contact with the right rear of a truck merging onto I-694 from I-35W. Mettel's car spun around, rolled, slid down the embankment, struck a light pole, crossed all 3 lanes of traffic and came to rest in the southbound lanes of I-35W under I-694.

Mettels suffered neck fractures, a skull fracture, multiple other fractures and multiple lacerations. She was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and is in critical condition.

The driver of the truck, Corey Gerdes, 21, of St. Paul, did not sustain any apparent injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and no evidence of alcohol was detected.
