Police ID boy struck by car in Duluth

The Duluth Police Department has released the names of the driver and four-year-old boy involved in Saturday's fatal car accident.

Tylerlee Charles Magliocco was struck by a Ford Explorer while he crossed Grand Avenue near 92nd Ave. West at about 8 p.m. The boy died at St. Mary's Medical Center on Sunday.

Authorities have not filed charges against the driver, Cody Benjamin Fairbanks, 18, of Duluth. Fairbanks has been cooperating with the investigation, according to a statement released by police spokesperson Brad Wick.

Wick said Fairbanks stopped and called 911 to report the accident.

Police officials said neither speed nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the crash. Wick said investigators are still piecing together what happened and are asking for anyone who might have seen the incident to call the police department.

"This is a very sad and unfortunate occurrence, not only for the Magliocco family, but also for Cody Fairbanks and his family," the statement said.

Wick said the crash remains under investigation.
