Minneapolis Police shuts down narcotics unit

Minneapolis Police Department has closed down its narcotics unit.

The move comes as the police department deals with a multi-million dollar budget shortfall. The 14 officers from the unit will be assigned to other duties within the police force.

Minneapolis Police spokesman Jesse Garcia says some of the work on drug cases may be assigned to other units.
