Irish dance competition this Saturday in St. Paul

A day of dance and music celebrating traditional Irish culture will be held Saturday in St. Paul.

The ninth annual Minnesota Feis 2009 Irish Dance, Music and Arts Competition returns to St. Paul RiverCentre. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

More than 400 dancers from the U.S. and Canada will compete. Dancers range in age from 5 to adult, and their skill levels vary from beginner to championship level.

A "feis" is an Irish dance and music competition. Amateurs compete both individually and in small teams before judges.
