A customer who was shot during a robbery at a Richfield pawn shop on Monday has died.
Two men robbed Avi Pawn and Jewelry shop in the 6400 block of Nicollet Avenue South at about 6 p.m. Monday night. A customer and an employee attempted to leave the store, but were shot by one of the robbers.
"We don't think there was any confrontation or anything like that based upon our investigation," said Richfield Police Department Lt. Jay Henthorne.
The customer, who was shot in the back, died Monday evening at Hennepin County Medical Center. The customer's name has not yet been released.
The employee was treated for gunshot injuries to the arm, and is recovering.
Surveillance camera footage captured the two suspects at the cash register. One suspect appears to be wearing a security guard uniform. Police investigators are working to determine whether that suspect may have been employed by a local company.
"We have two good photos of the suspects," Henthorne said. "We're trying to obviously identify them, and we need the public's help."
The suspects stole "an undisclosed amount of money" from the cash register, according to police investigators.
Police have asked that individuals who recognize the suspects call the Richfield Police Department at: 612-861-9898.
