Dan Rather to speak at Minn. Planned Parenthood event

Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather comes to Minneapolis on Tuesday to headline a fundraising dinner for Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota.

Rather is the keynote speaker at the abortion rights group's annual gala.

He is slated to speak on keeping citizens informed as the dynamics of the media change.

Rather was the face of the "CBS Evening News" for decades, covering stories ranging from the Kennedy assassination to the 2001 terrorist attacks. He left the network in 2006 after a discredited story on then-President George W. Bush's military service. He now hosts a weekly program on the cable channel HDNet.

Planned Parenthood says it's expecting more than 1,000 people to attend the event. Ticket prices range from $150 per person to $5,000 for a table of 10.
