Law enforcement officers receive H1N1 vaccine

Minnesota's limited supply of the H1N1 vaccine has mainly gone to health care workers and vulnerable people, but some flu shots have gone to firefighters and police.

Minneapolis police spokesman Jesse Garcia says protecting patrol officers from the flu is a high priority.

"With the officers going out there dealing with people, going in their houses, talking with them, arresting them...they're in close proximity with the people who have had or may have had [H1N1], and we want to make sure those officers are protected," he said.

Minneapolis officers have been getting vaccinations for the H1N1 flu for several weeks. In St. Paul, vaccinations for police and firefighters in St. Paul started Wednesday.
