Willie Murphy doesn't own a television. He says he threw it out years ago, perhaps in an effort to uncloud his own creativity. And with the release of his latest two-disc album, one could say the effort paid off.
Murphy has been a Twin Cities music icon since the 1960's. He led Willie and the Bees and has performed with everyone from Muddy Waters to Carl Perkins. And even produced Bonnie Raitt's first album for Warner Bros. Records back in 1971.
Red House Records convinced him to record again and his latest record features soul, jazz, funk, rock and folk music with original tunes and unique arrangements of classics.
Willie Murphy stopped in the Radio Heartland studios to talk about his new record.
