Anoka man dies after motorcycle collision with truck

An Anoka man died Tuesday after he was struck by a truck while riding his motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, Jeffrey Skoglund, 49, was headed northbound on County Road 19 when he was struck by a flat bed tow truck going eastbound on County Road 38.

Skoglund was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, Brett Johnson, was not injured.

The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office did not immediately return calls for comment. In a statement released Tuesday, sheriff's officials did not say whether Skoglund was wearing a helmet.

Fifty motorcyclists have died in crashes so far this year, compared to 65 at the same time last year, according to the state's Office of Traffic Safety.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
