OSHA to investigate Rosemount ammonia leak
Federal investigators will try to determine what caused an anhydrous ammonia leak that killed a truck driver and injured three other people in Rosemount.
A truck driver died and another was critically injured when the ammonia leaked during loading at the CF Industries terminal Monday evening.
Rosemount police Tuesday identified the trucker who died as Robert Larry Shue, 31, of Kingfisher, Okla. Another trucker, Roy Thomas Taylor, 56, of Moore, Okla., was injured and remained in critical condition at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
Two law enforcement officers were also exposed to ammonia when they assisted the victims. Both were treated at Regions Hospital and released.
Police say one of the truckers noticed a connection problem as they loaded their tankers and tried to fix it. The break in the connection released the dangerous ammonia.
