Anoka-Hennepin re-approves plan to close schools

The Anoka-Hennepin School Board has re-approved a plan to close six schools in the district and reconfigure two others.

The school board's re-vote was needed, because the district did not give proper notice of the changes before the meetings that preceded the first vote.

Some parents had hoped the second vote would allow the board to give the plan a second look. In the end, the proposal passed 5-1, the same result as the first vote.

District leaders said the closures are needed to find $3 million in savings.
