Metro Transit says there was high demand for the Northstar commuter rail weekend service.

Many of the people who crowded the trains on Saturday rode for free with coupons handed out the previous weekend.

Spokesman Bob Gibbons said a fair number of Vikings fans rode the train from the suburbs to the Metrodome on Sunday.

"Neither one of those two days gives you even the slightest sense of what a normal weekend would be like," Gibbons said.

Gibbons said because the kickoff time for the Vikings game this coming Sunday was changed, Northstar will offer a special train service to take fans back to the suburbs after the game.

Gibbons said it is still too early to make any significant adjustments based on the weekend's high demand.
