Minn. high court upholds 2 murder convictions

Two men convicted in separate Twin Cities killings have failed to convince the Minnesota Supreme Court to overturn their convictions.

In two rulings Wednesday, justices rejected claims from Dontario Riddley and Larry Pearson that their convictions were tainted by errors in their trials.

Twenty-two-year-old Riddley is serving two life terms for killing two men who were walking home from a bar in north Minneapolis in 2007. He argued that evidence was improperly admitted and a juror was wrongly excused.

Twenty-six-year-old Pearson is serving life without parole in the 2007 killing of a man during an alleged drug deal. Pearson appealed on multiple grounds, including the use of a videotaped statement he made to police.
