Pilot injured after plane crash in Lake Elmo
A pilot is injured after a small plane crash at Lake Elmo airport near the Minnesota-Wisconsin border.
According to a Washington County sheriff's department news release, the single-engine plane lost power during take off and crashed on some grass near the runway at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday.
The department says the aircraft had moderate damage but remained upright.
The pilot was the only one aboard and that person was taken to a local hospital for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Tony Molinaro said the FAA was investigating. He said the plane was home built in 2006 and it appears there was a possible gear collapse.
