Man shoots goose in North Mankato park

Police in North Mankato are looking for a driver who stopped and shot a goose in a park.

Witnesses saw the man pull up next to Spring Lake in Spring Lake Park Sunday afternoon, open the door and shoot a shotgun twice in the direction of a fountain.

The man then walked into the lake, retrieved a goose and drove away. Another goose and a duck were left dead at the scene. No people were hurt.

Police Lt. Carl Bock tells The Free Press of Mankato that the hunter apparently intended to kill ducks and geese.

The man was driving a dark green subcompact car with black side mirrors and tire rims.
