Voters approve tax hike to cover school construction costs

Voters in two school districts just outside the Twin Cities have approved a property tax hike to pay for construction projects.

The projects include $10 million in construction costs in Norwood Young America and nearly $30 million in the Montgomery-Lonsdale district.

Both districts held special elections Tuesday because they learned too late for the November election that they were eligible for low-interest loans through the federal stimulus package.

The vote in Norwood Young America was 571-440; in Montgomery-Lonsdale it was 1106-702.
