Cyclist reaches $70K settlement with City of Mpls.

A man who claims he was roughed up by Minneapolis police during a Critical Mass bike ride two years ago has reached a $70,000 settlement with the city.

Gus Ganley says amateur video helped discredit a police officer who allegedly claimed he had no interaction with Ganley.

During the August 2007 bike ride, police said the crowd was out of control. Officers sprayed mace and used stun guns while trying to restore order.

Ganley says the video shows one officer throwing him over a squad car and "manhandl(ing)" him.

The Minneapolis City attorney tells WCCO-TV the settlement resolves the matter without the city or officers acknowledging any wrongdoing. The city attorney says the settlement helps avoid the uncertainty of a trial.
