Wis. Assembly to take up texting ban
The Wisconsin state Assembly is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a bill that would ban sending text messages while driving. The Senate passed a similar ban in October.
The ban being considered by the Legislature would apply to all drivers, with exceptions for those operating emergency vehicles as well as licensed amateur radio operators.
More and more states have moved toward banning texting while driving, which is seen as a major distraction and safety hazard.
The first laws banning text messaging while driving passed in 2007 and now 19 states ban it for all drivers.
