Treasury Sec. Geithner coming to Twin Cities to tout green jobs

U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will travel to the Twin Cities on Thursday to highlight green job creation efforts.

Geithner will tour a Honeywell International Inc. facility in Golden Valley before attending a roundtable discussion with local business leaders and elected officials, including Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman.

"The group will discuss how investments in clean energy and energy efficiency present significant opportunities to create green manufacturing jobs in Minnesota and nationwide while helping move the country toward a green economy," according to a statement released Tuesday by the Treasury Department.

The event, hosted by the Mayors' Green Manufacturing Initiative and Honeywell International, Inc, is closed to the public.
