Minn. brothers charged in 1998 death of sister

Two brothers have been charged with killing their sister in 1998 and dumping her body in the woods in northwestern Minnesota.

On Wednesday, 34-year-old Todd Walter Martin of Fosston and 37-year-old Troy Fredric Martin of Bagley were arraigned in Clearwater County District Court on manslaughter charges relating to the death of Leisa Renae Martin. Bail was set at $250,000 for each man.

Leisa Martin, then 31, was reported missing by Todd Martin on the evening of October 28, 1998. Her body was found three days later in Mahnomen County. An autopsy determined she had been asphyxiated.

The Grand Forks Herald reports the charges say the break in the case came when Todd Martin was arrested for drunken driving Sunday. While being driven to jail, he allegedly attacked a deputy then confessed to the role had and his brother played in the death.
