Audio of deadly officer shooting released

Newly-released dispatch audio provides a glimpse into the frantic moments after a North St. Paul police officer confronted a suspect, who then shot and killed him.

Officer Richard Crittenden was shot with his own gun during a struggle with the suspect last September.

Crittenden could be heard calling for police backup on the audio from the Ramsey County dispatch center as he arrived at an apartment building in North St. Paul.

Police say Crittenden and Maplewood Officer Julie Olson were ambushed by Devon Dockery, who grabbed Crittenbach's gun and shot him in the head. Olson and Dockery then exchanged gunfire.
