Minn. union members rally at the Capitol for jobs

Members of a Minnesota union aren't satisfied with Gov. Tim Pawlenty's proposed budget, and they're headed to the Capitol to show it.

Activists from AFSCME Council 5 planned to rally in the rotunda Wednesday. The group says they want a budget that promotes job growth and preserves funds for local governments and state welfare programs. They would also raise taxes on corporations and the wealthy.

The supplemental budget Pawlenty proposed on Monday includes major cuts in social service spending and local government aid.

AFSCME Council 5 is a union of 43,000 public and nonprofit workers in Minnesota.
