Minn. Supreme Court reprimands ex-St. Cloud mayor

The Minnesota Supreme Court has reprimanded former St. Cloud Mayor John Ellenbecker for unprofessional conduct as an attorney.

In an order posted Thursday, the Supreme Court also put Ellenbecker on two years of supervised probation. He must also be assessed for issues relating to depression and complete all recommended therapy programs.

The Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility had alleged he failed to return property to clients, failed to pay a private investigator even after ordered to do so by a court, and failed to cooperate with the investigation.

Ellenbecker admitted violating the rules of professional conduct and agreed to the disciplinary actions.
