Probe of Fargo official linked to GPS purchase

Correspondence between Fargo officials says the investigation of the city's public works director stems from the purchase of $100,000 of GPS equipment.

City administrator Pat Zavoral says in the letter that Al Weigel ignored city policy when he bought the equipment from Fargo-based Epic Solutions without first soliciting bids.

Zavoral also says Weigel may have a personal financial interest in Epic Solutions.

Weigel has been placed on paid leave during the investigation.
