Fergus Falls man charged in fatal shooting

A 24-year-old Fergus Falls man has been charged in a fatal shooting.

Devin Gray appeared Wednesday before Otter Tail County District Judge Mark Hansen as charges of second-degree manslaughter and failing to render assistance were read to him.

Police say Gray was carelessly displaying a gun at a gathering of friends Feb. 26 at the home of 29-year-old Amanda Kemmer. Police say Kemmer took the gun away, and it went off when he tried to retrieve it. She was hit in the chest and died at the scene.

The Daily Journal of Fergus Falls reports Hansen set bail at $200,000 after prosecutor Michelle Eldien said Gray has no home, no job, no dependents, no ties to the community and a history of depression.

A public defender will be appointed later. Gray's next court date is March 15.
