Business, labor groups converge on Minn. Capitol

A major business group and a big labor union both come to the Capitol on Wednesday to promote their interests.

The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce holds its annual "Business Day at the Capitol" event in downtown St. Paul. The chamber opposes higher state taxes and wants state leaders to cut spending and streamline government.

The business people will hear from legislative leaders and Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

Later Wednesday, the Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council holds a rally on the Capitol steps to push for a large package of construction projects and other moves to create jobs.

Three of the four legislative leaders are slated to speak to the union audience.
