FEMA official touring flooded Fargo
Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Craig Fugate is touring flooded areas of Fargo today.
Fugate is scheduled to inspect levees and sandbag walls that helped hold back floodwaters of the Red River, which divides North Dakota and Minnesota.
The river crested Sunday at about 19 feet over flood stage. It left some back yards, fields, parks and roads submerged, but officials reported no major damage.
Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker says the dikes should stay in place until the river drops another 6 feet, which is expected by early next week.
