Prince looks like pauper in Minnesota tax records

Prince looks like a pauper in a list of delinquent taxpayers in Minnesota.

Carver County tax records show that Prince's PRN Music Corp. alone owes more than $227,000 for 2009 taxes to the state, Chaska School District and other government bodies. The county is just southwest of Minneapolis.

PRN Music is the home to Prince's Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen. Several other properties in Carver County under the musician's full name, Prince R. Nelson, are also listed as delinquent.

County taxpayer services manager Laurie Engelen estimates that altogether PRN Music and Prince's other properties in the county owe about $450,000 in taxes. She says Prince paid late in 2006 and 2008 on his studios.

PRN and Prince's studios don't have listed phone numbers, and a talent agency that has represented Prince in the past didn't immediately respond to an e-mail message seeking comment.

A notice of delinquent taxes that included Prince's properties was published last week in the Chaska Herald.
