Fargo students pranked, told prom scrapped

An announcement by a Fargo North High School administrator that there'd be no prom this year turned out to be an early April Fool's prank.

Assistant principal Kathy Cieslak told students Wednesday morning that plans for the April 24 prom was scrapped due to poor behavior at past dances and a high number of detentions.

Her announcement was made on behalf of the school's student council. Initial plans were to reveal the prank Wednesday afternoon, but Cieslak says the school was flooded with calls from concerned parents, so students were let in on the joke an hour later.

Cieslak says it was "a great, great, great joke."
