University of Minnesota President Robert Bruininks has canceled his State of the University Address because of laryngitis.

Bruininks was supposed to give the speech Thursday. Instead of rescheduling the speech, officials said Bruininks' remarks will be posted on the Office of the President Web site on Monday.

Officials said in a news release that the spring semester ends soon. Bruininks said in the release that it was important for him to get out his message to the public "in a timely manner."
