Minn.'s Ritchie urges college students to vote

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie is starting a statewide tour to urge college students to vote and get involved in this year's elections.

He visits Lake Superior College and the University of Minnesota Duluth in Duluth on Thursday.

Ritchie is a Democrat serving his first term as secretary of state. The outreach tour will take him to campuses from East Grand Forks to Rochester.

Ritchie is speaking about new election laws affecting students and encouraging students to sign up as election judges. His staff will be on hand to help students register to vote.

The Secretary of State's office says those between the ages of 18 and 24 vote at a lower rate than any other age group.
