Plea deal in $6 million embezzlement case

A man accused of embezzling $6 million from a chemical company has reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors in Minneapolis.

The U.S. Attorney's office says Chad Wilfred Jurgens, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud in federal court Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Jurgens admitted that between January 2002 and February 2008, he orchestrated a scheme to defraud his employer, Haas TCM. Jurgens worked as a site manager for the chemical company at Seagate Technology in Bloomington.

Jurgens was accused of creating fictional orders for chemicals and then directing the payment to a company he had set up.

Jurgens faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
