Vigils to be held in Minnesota for hikers jailed in Iran
Vigils will be held in Minnesota and several other states on Sunday to mark the 250 days three American hikers have been held in Iran.
One vigil is scheduled to take place in Robinson Park in Pine City, Minn., where the mother of Shane Bauer lives. Another Minnesota vigil will take place at Memorial Park in Shakopee.
The families of Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Josh Fattal have said the three were hiking in Iraqi Kurdistan when they accidentally crossed the border into Iran. Officials in Iran have accused them of being spies, and just this week Iran's intelligence minister said on an Irani TV station that the three have links to U.S. intelligence agencies.
The families have called the allegations "ridiculous." They said their loved ones have had no access to their attorney and have only been allowed to call home once.
Besides Minnesota, the other vigils are being held in New York, California, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, South Africa and British Columbia, Canada.
