Minn. student in trouble for note at UW-Stout

A Minnesota student is in hot water after writing a note on a whiteboard in an office at University of Wisconsin-Stout that mentioned a bomb.

The university says in a news release that the note was found Wednesday night and resulted in the temporary evacuation of three buildings.

A 19-year-old freshman from Duluth, Minn., later called campus police and confessed to writing the note, which referred to a bomb but did not include a threat.

University Police Chief Lisa Walter says the student was extremely apologetic and says the note was written as a joke to a chemistry professor. The students says was referring to a type of small homemade bomb he and friends had set off in a Menomonie park.

Police are seeking disorderly conduct charges against the student from the Dunn County District Attorney's Office. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
