Tea parties on tax day protest govt. spending

It's Tax Day in Minnesota, and that means protests aplenty.

Tea party rallies are planned in at least 10 cities to protest taxes. That includes Brainerd, Duluth, Mankato, Milaca, Rochester, Princeton and Winona.

The biggest rally is expected to be in St. Paul at the Capitol.

April 15 marks the day federal income tax returns are due. Toni Backdahl, a statewide tea party coordinator, says protests could be larger this year because of anger by some over the health care overhaul.

The protesters may see counter-demonstrators. Backdahl says tea party activists are planning to carry video cameras to document anyone who tries to disrupt their protests.
