White House says stimulus provided 56,000 jobs in Minn.

The White House Council of Economic Advisors estimates the federal stimulus plan provided Minnesota with 56,000 more jobs than there would have been otherwise in the first three months of the year.

The report stressed that the state-level employment estimates are imprecise, calling them "rough," "speculative" and "uncertain" compared to the national estimate.

The report says the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act boosted payroll employment in the U.S. between 2.2 million and 2.8 million jobs in the first quarter.
