Brooklyn Park police investigate teen's shooting death

Police in Brooklyn Park are still trying to determine who shot and killed a 17-year-old boy during a fight near a house party over the weekend.

Brooklyn Park Police Inspector Todd Milburn said Monday that detectives have more witnesses to interview in the case.

Milburn said police are following up on several leads, but so far no one has been arrested.

Authorities haven't released the name of the boy, who was pronounced dead at the intersection of 83rd and Xerxes early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to a call about a fight and later received another report that shots had been fired. When police arrived, they found the boy in the roadway. The shooting happened a few houses away from a party with about 50 attendees, and police think the party and shooting incident could be related.

"Due to the sheer volume of people who were present that day, it's been an ongoing investigation through the weekend," Milburn said.

Milburn said police are asking anyone who saw the shooting to contact them at 763-493-8222.
