Independence Party's Horner to launch bid for governor

Former Republican strategist Tom Horner kicks off his campaign for governor as an Independence Party candidate on Tuesday.

Horner plans a Capitol news conference with former U.S. Sen. Dave Durenberger and others.

Horner is one of four candidates seeking the Independence Party endorsement at the party's state convention in Bloomington on Saturday. Publisher Rob Hahn, retired business executive John Uldrich and frequent candidate Rahn Workcuff are also campaigning.

Horner is a founding partner of the public relations firm Himle Horner.

The governor's race is open this year. GOP Gov. Tim Pawlenty isn't running for a third term.
