Pink popular as Minn. mall hosts breast-cancer run

Pink will be in fashion this Mother's Day at the Mall of America.

Thousands of runners will be wearing pink - the color promoting breast cancer awareness - when the 18th annual Susan G. Komen Twin Cities Race for the Cure is held Sunday at the Bloomington mall.

Last year about 50,000 men, women and children took part in the 5K run to raise money for breast cancer screening, research and education. Organizers hope for more than 50,000 runners this year.

A Kids for the Cure fun run will be held Saturday at the mall. Children also can float a pink duck with a message commemorating a loved one with breast cancer, or decorate a flower pot and plant a seed as a gift.
