Minn. man, 76, dead after ambulance accident near Duluth

A 76-year-old man is dead after the ambulance he was riding in lost control on an icy bridge, hit a vehicle and flipped in a ditch near Cloquet.

KARE-TV reports that Friday night's accident happened on the St. Louis River Bridge when the ambulance lost control and slid into oncoming traffic.

The State Patrol says the ambulance hit an SUV and the guard rail, rolling into the ditch. Besides the victim from Remer, two other people - a 48-year-old woman driving the ambulance and a 26-year-old passenger - were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV was not hurt.
