Minn. private school sued in abuse case

A man who says he was sexually abused by a teacher at Breck School in 1974 is suing the prestigious private school for not immediately firing the teacher.

The anonymous plaintiff filed his civil suit Monday in Hennepin County District Court. He alleges one act of abuse by William Allan Jacobs.

Jacobs is a former Minneapolis Park Police officer who has been charged in the alleged molestation of a boy between 2007 and early this year.

Since those charges were brought, prosecutors say they have at least 17 men who report they were molested by Jacobs as boys.

Jacobs was a chemistry teacher at Breck before joining the park police.

The plaintiff in the civil case is represented by Jeff Anderson, an attorney best known for suing the Catholic church in clergy abuse cases. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages from Breck.
