Gates gives $330K to MnSCU to lift grad rates

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Foundation has been given a $330,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which could lead to improved graduation rates.

The grant will support the development of "action analytics," which is a data analysis technique that MnSCU hopes will help faculty and advisers get early warnings about struggling students so the staff can help them stay on track.

More specifically, MnSCU says the grant will pay to create a repository of best practices for improving student success, organize a community of data analysts who can exchange ideas and host two national meetings.
