Authorities identify man killed by Shakopee police

Authorities have identified a Shakopee man shot and killed by police after he was suspected of stabbing a woman to death.

Two Shakopee police officers shot 34-year-old Joshua James Walker Tuesday morning along state Highway 169. They had pulled over his vehicle after spotting him on their way to the reported stabbing, and Shakopee Police Chief Jeff Tate says they feared for their lives.

Investigators believe Walker stabbed 30-year-old Asia King to death earlier Tuesday after breaking into her home. He is also a suspect in a carjacking in Plymouth Tuesday morning.

Shakopee officers Brad Bisek and Molly Moonen are on paid administrative leave while the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigates the incident.
